Bed &
Breakfast
in
Australia

Bed & Breakfast in Australia became very popular between Australians and tourists. Many Australians who had bought houses for the family, and now with the grown children, rooms became available in the house. So why not to rent them for travellers per some days, and get an extra budget during the year?!  Usually Bed & Breakfast don't accept guests for long periods, for example: more than two weeks, but some of them will talk about longer stays. This is one of the biggest differences between homestay that contrary to the B & B, accept guests for months or even years. Bed & Breakfast literally mean, a room with a bed to slip and a breakfast in the morning. The majority of B&Bs offers room with bathroom in the same area (ensuite). Also the meals are not restricted only to the breakfast. Some will therefore accept for a small increase in the daily pay, to supply complete meals if combined in advance.

The majority of the users of a Bed & Breakfast, are people who like familiar environment and to chat with the owners of the house about many subjects including the history of the place. B & Bs are very popular with women travelling alone due the extra security they feel in the place. But single men and couples also like the friendly environment. Aged couples already pensioners, constitute a typical group, that prefers to be in the house with people  sometimes the same age they are, instead of in a hotel or motel. The possibility to know new people and talk at your own pace is much wider than in a normal commercial environment. Many people use this type of accommodation in farms, for the space option and the change it represents.

There are many types of Bed & Breakfast, since small houses until style mansions and in farms. The location also is varied, since in the main urban centres, and even in beaches and mountains. Some people who have a house in gorgeous special place, are stimulated by friends to open a Bed & Breakfast in the place and show to others their beautiful piece of paradise. Owners of B & B sometimes expose theirs culinary abilities in delight for offering its inventions for the guests. The internal decoration and some B & B homes are sometimes a tourist attraction by its own.

We never been in a Bed & Breakfast, but we know some people who do not change  this type of lodging  into another one. Some people told us that in certain Bed & Breakfast, the owners prefer not to bother the guest and simply they get of sight. Others in other hand said they had  spent the whole night talking and taking wine or tea with the hosts, and became great friends. The breakfast in the morning in general consists toasts, cereal with milk, eggs with bacon, and an orange juice or coffee. (this is the basic Australian standard breakfast).

Prices for a Bed & Breakfast in Australia ranges from A$ 50 until A$ 150 per person per night. If you want to see more about B&Bs, see here a external link to a reservation online site.

Mary Help likes shrimps, beer, and Coke for breakfast.
