Customer: "Nothing ... by the way ... Don't forget to
give me the 3 free bottles of Pepsi that you advertised!"

"We normally would, Sir, but based on your records
you're also diabetic !!!"
The
joke above
reflects what a person may encounter if he or she decides to
hide from the Australian Immigration Department. Of course it
is not like that, because Australia has strictly privacy laws,
and probably is not interested at all if a person is diabetic
or not, but the system used provides a very good border
control and of the Australian territory. The Department of
Immigration acts very firmly to control illegal migrants or
people who simply decides to overstay their Visas. Our message
to anyone who intend to do this is...
There are many ways
to live and work in Australia by taking the right
Visa which fits the person's intention. Besides
that, in our concept, stay illegal in any
country is the same as invade a person's house
without not being invited and with no time to
leave. Australian people are great host, but
like any other culture based on mutual respect,
Australian don't think twice before delating an
intruder to the authorities.
The second point
is that "Under the table Jobs" as it
is know in the United States, is not something
common in Australia, and many employers will not
contract an worker in an Illegal situation. The
few that may do so, may face heavy penalties or
even prison if found giving work to someone in
the illegality. Basicaly all companies ask for
the "Tax File Number" of the employee
as well as pay directly to a bank account. Often,
the Immigration Department do "Blitz"
in companies suspected of contracting illegal
workers.
Finally,
a person who stays illegal or overstay the Visa
may be arrested and deported without any
previous notice, not talking about the fact that
the country of origin of this person(s) may
influence the classification that Australia have
for anyone from that country to obtain future
Visas. If you like Australia and Australians,
please DO NOT overstay your Visa. Talk with an
Immigration department officer that he or she
may be able help you to stay or work in
Australia, everything done under the law.
Stay
Illegal in Australia is a stupidity !!!
