Tourist Attractions in Rotorua, New Zealand

Rotorua after Auckland is the biggest tourist centre of New Zealand. The town around the lake of the same name is famous for its volcanic activities and Maori Culture. If you don't have plenty of time to explore New Zealand, Rotorua is only 2 hours from Auckland and can be done in a day trip. We recommend at least 3 nights there. Attractions	Description
Mt. Tarawera	A volcano nearby Rotorua which erupted in 1886. Can be visited by 4x4 tours or Helicopters. Great views, great history, breathtaking.
Waimangu Volcanic Valley	One of the most beautiful and impressive thermal manifestations of nature. Can't miss. 15 km South of Rotorua.
Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve & Maori Cultural Centre	At the South part of Rotorua, this thermal area has Geysers, bubbling mud and a traditional Maori village with a cultural centre. Can't miss.
Wai-o-tapu	Another fantastic thermal area south of Rotorua with Geysers and colourful terraces. Very very beautiful.
Hell's Gate	Another thermal area16 km South of Rotorua. it boost the biggest boiling water waterfall in the Southern Hemisphere.
Buried Village	Visit a village which was buried during Mt. Tarawera Volcanic Eruptions. Very impressive
Polynesian Spa	A Complex of natural hot pools and spa at the edge of the lake. Fantastic relaxation after a day of activities.
Skyline Skyride	Go by cable car to the top of the hill with spectacular views of Rotorua. There are restaurants, souvenir shops and don't miss a ride on the luge Fairy Springs Road.
Rainbow Springs	Just beside the cable car, a park with giant sequoias, mini zoo (spot the Kiwi and the Tautara Fairy Springs Road
Luge	A very fun ride hill down in a motorless kart. After the emotions, come back by cable car. Very very fun for all ages. On the top of the hill. Fairy Springs Road.
Agrodome	Visit a farm with shows about sheep and much more. Ride the Zorb. A giant plastic ball which you ride inside down the hill with or without water in it. Western Road, Ngongotaha.
NZ RiverJet	Ride a narrow river aboard of a very fast speed boat. Very scary some times but great fun.
Tamaki Maori Village	Try a Hangi, a traditional Maori food cooked underground.Sublime. See typical dance demonstrations and shows.
Rotorua Rotoiti Tours	Tours to Rakeiao Marae at the edge of the gorgeous lake Rotoiti. Maori typical food, dance and you can even overnight at the village.
Rotorua Museum of Art & History	Museum with the history of Rotorua and the arrival of the Europeans. Lots of Maori arts and crafts.
Rotorua Bungy	Bungy Jump from 40 metres. Also, 4x4 bike rides passing farms and mountains. Spectacular views. In Waitomo.
Tandem Skydiving Rotorua	Have a tandem jump over Rotorua and the lake. Nice bird eye views
